Leeches

Suck my time
Suck my life
Suck my heart
Suck my passion
Suck my patience
Suck my creativity
Suck me dry of everything I held dear

Turn me into the thing you want me to be

Devoid of anything that is me

Fuck your greyness
Fuck your passion for cold hard cash
Fuck your lack of imagination
Fuck your tunnel vision
Fuck your lack of humanity
Fuck your misplaced blame
Fuck your hollowness

Fuck you for turning me into one of you

When all of this is done
I will return to the me

But you should know, the desire for that day will never be yours.

NEVER

Bad day. Wasn't so bad till I got to thinking about it. This is the reality of corporate business. They just crept up on me while I wasn't looking.

Parts of keep trying to escape.

J - not aimed at you. You are the one patch of solid ground in the sea of quicksand

This flooded out when I realised I was becoming used to everything. Scarey.

I wrote this way back in 2003 when I worked in a company that I had seen grow from 12 to 300. At the time we had a manager (J) who was a person with honour and integrity and didn't fit in with the management of the time as he refused to turn into a corporate whore. He lost his job becuase of it.

It seems to be rather fitting now. I have no idea what happenned but what I can see is that dev has started to become that business orientated giant, loosing some of that honour, integrity and heart that I new it to have back in 2002 when I joined.

I have experienced quiet management before when things happen that they would rather go away. There is uproar from those of us lower down the ranks, but they hope that after a while things will quieten down and all will be forgotten. Sadly this is what usually happens.

And this is my greatest sadness. Dev suddenly feels like a corporate business gone bad, where the small and the middle men don't matter. And if you are management and don't fit into that business ideal then you are not wanted. What is right and honourable no longer matter, even down to a management statement, agreed by all concerned to be a true and honest reflection of what happened.
